About The Customer

Our customer is a non-profit subsidiary of a well-known research institute of physics located in United States. It has been a trusted source of research journals, conference proceedings, and essential information for physical scientists everywhere, for more than 80 years

Background

The customer wanted our in-house tool to integrate features that allow analysis of data sets with external sources. This would enable the customer to carry out intensive validation of the research outcomes and interact with peers for reviews and feedback.

Challenges

Apart from features like search, import and data visualization, the customer wanted our in-house data visualizing tool Surface Science Spectra Data Browser (SSS) to support features like comparison of datasets with external sources.

Integration of external datasets: In scientific research, it is mandatory to compare datasets with the findings from external sources for validation of results, identifying correlation and expanding the scope of analysis. Hence the customer relied on us to support integration of external datasets.

The inability to integrate external sources into the SSS tool resulted in limiting the external researcher’s ability to conduct comprehensive comparison like examining similarities, differences or relationships between datasets.

Sharing Research Outcomes: The customer wanted the SSS tool to support the feature of sharing results of analyzed data with their colleagues for collaborative review and feedback. In scientific community Sharing visualized outcomes is crucial for peer review, discussions and deriving consensus.

Solution

We integrated advanced visualization features by leveraging state-of-the-technology leading to enhanced scalability and improved functionality.

AMCharts for Visualization: We implemented AMCharts, a robust visualization framework tool which supported dynamic and interactive visualizations that allowed the researchers to import and visualize datasets from external sources.

The Solution introduced the data import capabilities which enabled external datasets to be uploaded and processed along with Surface Science Spectra datasets.

Benefits

Advanced Interoperability: The implementation of AM charts eliminated the need to work solely with internal datasets and enabled the researchers to conduct comprehensive data validation, cross-checking and correlating their research outcomes with external data sources.

Mordern Tech stack: The implementation of modern technologies like .NET, Elastic Research, and Angular resulted in enhanced scalability, performance, and responsiveness. This helped in supporting seamless data management and visualization.

Trusted and widely used Application: The integration of AM charts made the SSS tool highly functional and valuable to the researchers and the seamless performance made it a trusted and widely used application among AIPP researchers.
