London, 2nd October 2017: Rave Technologies hosted its 5th Annual Publishing Conference in London on 2nd October 2017. It was an action-packed day as the event was attended by around 80 publishing professionals from over 55 major publishing companies across the Europe and the US. With 15 technology leaders providing insights on the Publishing industry, many technology topics were discussed like artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven development, innovation, digital transformation etc.
Max Gabriel, CTO of Taylor & Francis (T&F), addressed the keynote, ‘Self driving knowledge economy’ and set the pace for the day’s event. Dr. Christopher Marker, Lead Taxonomist from the IET, demonstrated how the IET has been using data modelling and ontology for Semantic enrichment. Prabhash Shrestha from ICBA challenged the delegates to use data for their digital transformation and highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence to target their market. John Haynes, CEO of AIP Publishing shared the digital journey of espectra. The first half of the day ended with the panel discussion focussing on ‘AI in publishing: applications, potentials, and constraints’ wherein the panelists shared their thoughts about AI in their business.
Ian Mulvany, Head of Product Innovations from SAGE Publications, started the second half of the day talking about innovation cycle at SAGE. Kunal Ahluwalia and Liz Bradshaw from Elsevier spoke about the data driven product development. The second panel discussion focused on agile/lean and their wider impact on Publishing. Andrew Vorster (AV), a provocative and engaging storyteller presented the last session, ‘The art and science of igniting innovation initiatives’.

The 6th edition of the Annual Publishing Conference is planned on Tuesday, 23rd October 2018 in London.
