We won a 2020 HSJ Partnership Award for connecting the organ donor register to the NHS App.
We’re part of the winning team that scooped the award for systems and data integration at the 2020 HSJ Partnership Awards last night!
Together with NHS Blood and Transplant, NHS Digital and Kainos, we successfully integrated the NHS Organ Donor Register with the NPS App.
Although the public could always register their organ donation decision through a variety of channels, there was never an easy way to review the decisions they’d made.
For the first time, NHS App users can now register their decision, review it and update it in real time. This work is a vital step to support the move to presumed consent, where people will need to opt out rather than opt in to organ donation.
The integration was a technical and logistical challenge, but with amazing team work from all the partners we got the job done on time and under budget!
Well done to @NorthgatePS, @KainosSoftware, @NHSBT and @NHSDigital who win the System and Data Integration Award for their passionate and diligent work #HSJPartnershipAwards

Couldn’t be more proud of my old team @NHSDigital and my current team @NHSBT for increasing the no of people registering organ donation preferences & winning this award. None of it would have happened without our great partners @KainosSoftware and @NorthgatePS ? https://t.co/LlQmMkg2n3
