Four additional councils looking to better support young people are now live with our end-to-end youth offending case management solution. We look at the challenges they face and explore why each of them chose NEC Pathways to help turn young lives around.
In the space of just six weeks, four more local authorities have gone live successfully with NEC Pathways. East Riding of Yorkshire, Birmingham, Leicester and Greenwich all chose us to help free up staff time so they could focus on the needs of young people in their care.
This growing momentum reflects a common challenge facing youth justice services; a rising caseload with limited resources to match. Our youth justice experts developed NEC Pathways specifically to manage cases to completion more efficiently, including all appointments, notes, intervention programmes, case plans and AssetPlus assessments, by putting the individual at the centre of the software.
As well as freeing their practitioners from unnecessary admin, these latest additions to our customer base also had particular reasons for choosing NEC Pathways to support their work:
East Riding chose Pathways from NEC after testing the market to replace their existing system. They were impressed by its modern interface, lack of hidden costs and our team’s experience. For them, ease of collaboration was also a particular benefit, as their officers are dispersed across seaside towns, cities and rural communities. Pathways makes data sharing much easier by design. And because it’s cloud-based it offers high availability, enabling teams to work together productively at all times.
With the largest youth offending team in Europe, Birmingham City Council needed a system that could work seamlessly for a large number of concurrent users. Its high caseload also requires an instant 360-degree view of each young person, which Pathways provides as standard. Given the scale of the challenge the city faces, an intuitive system backed up with good end-user training was also a key factor in choosing to work with NEC.
Supporting local communities and areas of high deprivation, the team at Leicester needed a system that could help them focus on young people and identify priorities more easily. After going out to tender to replace their previous system, they chose Pathways as a best-in-class software solution to work with young people in youth justice. Pathways gives a single view of young people, giving officers time back to focus on what’s important for their service and community.
The team at Greenwich wanted to take their service to the next level by combining the information in its youth offending system with other data on young people. By using a data warehouse to analyse trends, they hope to enable the development of better services in the future. They had been struggling to extract data from their old system, whereas NEC Pathways keeps this simple. With data easier to share, the council can also work with its neighbouring boroughs more effectively.
Now these four new customers are up and running, we’re focused on continuous support and improvement. This includes automatic updates to reflect the evolving requirements of the Youth Justice Board as well as enhancing our usability, security, stability and accessibility to help improve the efficiency of youth justice services.
